Its a weekday and i have an off duty, i was checking at the forecast as always at 11AM and the sounding looks really good, no wind at altitude and some instability with is rare by february. Started checking with my flying partners and absolutely nobody can go to the mountains, i take my truck and start the 1 hour trip up. Takeoff at 2600 mts is ok, thermals are there and i started climbing to 3800 meters, the main goal for the day is flying over Cerro el Plomo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerro_El_Plomo) but since theres is no ceiling i plan to go on a direction nobody have gone before in Chile, in that place. Wind is calm 3800 ft with some valley breezes, i started the first transition to the north across the first two valleys that run west-east, on the second one i get a little stuck on a southerly face, at around 600 mts AGL over a mining road, i struggle finding lift, but i manage to climb 3800mts full of condors and go on a 10km transition, get to a natural amphitheater and get to 3500, then again another big transition across the valleys and fly a long ridge with was below a little inversion at 3000 and never manage to get a thermal to cross it. Landed at 230 pm, on an unpopulated area. After 2 hours of walking i hitchhike a truck with one trip a day, after that a couple of buses and managed to get home. A lot more to discover in Chile, impressive.
