This preview is for Volume 3 of our 3-part DVD series, "Steamin’ Summer". The "Steamin’ Summer" DVDs present incredible steam action during the heatwave of 2011. Volume 3 begins with Day 3 and 4 of the Rock Island Train Festival. This one-time event brought together 7 steam locomotives, historic and modern diesels and more to a Mississippi River site in Rock Island, Illinois. This chapter covers the daily steam trips to Walcott, Iowa and an all-day run with QJ 6988 to Iowa City. Day 4 coverage begins with the historic diesel-powered Nebraska Zephyr train-set on an all-day journey to Bureau Junction, Illinois. Festival ground action includes late Day 4 locomotive movements in Rock Island as trains are made up for journeys home for Nickel Plate 765 and the QJs. Read more about the Rock Island Train Festival here: http://yardgoatimages.com/trip-report-rock-island-train-festival The day following the festival is spent with beautiful NKP #765 as she travels across Illinois to Logansport, Indiana with a passenger consist. The scenery is great and the locomotive and crew put on a great show! Our final chapter takes us to the Monticello Railway Museum in Monticello, Illinois. We see Southern 401 in operation over the railroad’s extensive trackage. The locomotive is a 2-8-0 built in 1907 and returned to steam in 2010.
