Fire and Ice

Painting on location earlier this year during an evening of “fire and ice” while entertained by curious chinstrap penguins on Hydrurga Rocks, Palmer Archipelago , Antarctic Peninsula. “It was just above freezing temperature which allowed for time to lay down a wash before pallet blocks up with ice. The sunset continued to grow more intense to the point where i just have to stop painting and make sure i am not dreaming!
