Emperor Penguins

Last December (2011), I spent a week on the sea ice of the Weddell Sea surrounded by thousands of Emperor Penguins. From the Adventure Network International Base in Union Glacier, it is a four hour Twin Otter flight. After landing on the sea ice, we set up a small camp just to the northeast of Berkner Island. Immediately, curious penguins came over to see what was up. It was one of the most incredible experience of my entire life.
