Cars CinExplore

John Lasseter, director of Cars, introduces viewers to the very first Cinexplore feature on the Blu-ray edition of his movie. CinExplore is an interactive documentary feature that plays in real-time with the feature presentation. Viewers can see deleted scenes, early artwork and jump out of the movie to watch a relevant mini-documentary and then pick up where they left off in the movie. "Cars" was the first film to receive the CinExplore treatment and I created two separate CinExplore features for the film, which required thousands of photos, artwork and original videos to complete. A logistical nightmare, I was never sure the concept would work as expected, but the good folks at Disney and Pixar remained confident in my abilities and the CinExplore experiment was so successful I went on to produce and edit one for the Pinocchio and Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray releases. This short intro, which I also wrote and produced, explains the CinExplore features and how they work.
