Extended Paper – Coperion at POWTech 2013

We developed a completely interactive product catalogue for Coperion GmbH, the worldwide market and technology leader in engineering and construction of plastics-manufacturing plants. Components from the new delivery programme are being recognised by markerless tracking while moving the pages in front of the camera. Virtual components and simulations can be rotated and examined freely. The user can activate augmented product simulations, exploded views and additional information directly and intuitively by using the catalogue. The application extends the capabilities of a virtual simulation with the intuitive usability of a printed medium. This emotional moment of interaction is completed with product-related light- and sound effects – a »Mixed-Reality« setup for an immersive perception. The application was presented at the International Trade Fair for Mechanical Processing Technologies and Instrumentation, »POWTech« in April 2013 in Nuremberg, Germany.
