Pakistan's Prime Minister Wears $4.6 Million Watch to Budget Meeting

One observer at Pakistan’s recent budget presentation noted that country’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was wearing a $4.6 million dollar watch.

At Pakistan’s recent budget presentation, not all eyes were focused on columns of numbers.

After tweets surfaced of a leader wearing an expensive watch, it was confirmed that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was the one reportedly wearing a 4 and a half million-dollar watch.

Needless to say, there were a bevy of negative comments about the act and the budget, and specific mentions of the insanely expensive timepiece were a part of both.

A politician opposed to the financial plan said she wasn’t surprised by the fact that it favored the rich as what could one really expect from extravagantly accessorized party leaders.

Pakistan is considered to be in the midst of an extreme economic crisis and its leaders are in talks with the International Monetary Fund for a bailout.

The country is still in the process of paying back previous loans.

Of course, asking a leader to offer up their personal jewelry to bail out their country isn’t exactly de rigueur. Plus, as we’re talking billions of dollars, the watch really wouldn’t make much of a dent.
