I firmly remember that the first time I’ve seen one was just half a year ago, and it was based on Evil Dead franchise. I thought it was just a novelty and an interesting concept, and then I turned around and I’ve already reviewed about ten of these already. Although these games tend to be rather repetitive, I actually like this genre.
It’s very simple to understand, but offers quite a lot of gameplay variety, compared to some other games on the mobiles.
It’s still a long time from actual strategies, but I think that it’s slowly getting there. Dragon Hunter: Defense, which I’m reviewing right now, belongs to this genre, and is a prime example of everything both right and wrong about it.
The game setting and design are all pretty standard fantasy stuff that we’ve seen a hundred of times in other games like this.
You need to protect a castle from an onslaught of different monsters, who willingly go under you arrows and swords, if it means getting a chance at stabbing your surprisingly brittle walls.
I’m actually a little bit confused about this game’s title, which led me to think that I was going to, you know, hunt dragons, but regardless of that, Dragon Hunter: Defense is quite alright.
