Two Brazilian men accused of murdering a Bolivian boy in June were found dead in a prison in Sao Paulo on Friday (August 30). The men were believed to have been poisoned by other inmates at the Santo Andre jail.

The five-year-old Brayan Yanarico Capcha was shot in the head by masked robbers who reportedly complained that the boy was crying too much when they were robbing his house. The two suspects with two other accomplices stormed the boy's family home on June 28. They were dissatisfied that the family were only able to provide 4,500 reais and reportedly put a knife on the boy's neck and asking for more money. The boy's family said the boy begged the robbers not to be killed but he later was shot dead in his mother's arms.

BBC reports that the two men found dead in jail were named as Paulo Richardo and Felipe Martins dos Santos Lima. The two had been awaiting trial and two other suspects who committed the robbery with them are still reported to be on the run. All four men were said to be from an area close to the San Carlos town in the east of Sao Paulo where the boy's family was living.

The boy's family reportedly have since returned to Bolivia. His murder has shocked people in Sao Paulo and triggered protests by Bolivian migrants. Tens of thousands of Bolivian immigrants live in Sao Paulo and most of them live and work in very basic conditions.
