Two robbers tried to rip a bank ATM out of the wall using chains attached to a truck in Kepong. However, when the tactic failed they abandoned their efforts at around 5:30 a.m.

A supermarket at Taman Connaught in Cheras noticed their ATM was broken into when they were about to open for business at around 7:00 a.m. Police investigating the crime found robbers had drilled a hole through a wall of the adjacent Tenaga Nasional Bhd substation before entering the supermarket, then used oxy-acetylene torches to cut through the ATM.

City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah said it is unclear how much money was taken, according to The Star.

In a separate heist, robbers drilled through a garbage bin store before entering a supermarket at Taman Kinrara in Puchong, then also used torches to cut through the ATM. About RM70,000 was taken. Supermarket employees noticed their ATM had been tampered with when opening for business at around 7:50 a.m.

In both cases, robbers took the supermarkets' CCTV recorders with them. All of the events took place within two and a half hours.
