Cameron says Britain open to Chinese investments

British Prime Minister David Cameron says the United Kingdom is the most open country to Chinese investment, speaking to state broadcaster China Central Television at Shanghai's Jiaotong University.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) BRITISH PRIME MINISTER DAVID CAMERON SAYING:

"Britain wants to see China succeed, Britain believes that there are great advantages, not just for the Chinese people but for the whole world, and we want to see British business, British investment, coming into China, but also we welcome, very strongly welcome, Chinese investment into Britain."

Cameron met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang in Beijing earlier in the week.

He reiterated his support for a multi-billion-dollar free trade deal between China and the European Union, despite the EU executive's rejection of the move as premature.
