Kerry reiterates call to release missing American Robert Levinson

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry reiterated on Friday (December 13) a call for the release of missing American Robert Levinson who disappeared during a business trip to an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf in March 2007.

"With respect to Mr. Levinson, I don't have any comment whatsoever on the condition with respect to employment or any other issue except to say to you that we have raised the issue of his whereabouts on a continuous basis. I have personally raised it with the Iranians in the course of our discussions and we will continue to try to seek his release and return to the United States," Kerry said at the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv.

In an apparent effort to test Iranian goodwill following a landmark nuclear deal, the United States had asked Iran to help find the American private investigator who has been missing there for more than six years.
