Quentin Tarantino throws hissy fit, scraps new western after script leak

Quentin Tarantino announced he's abandoned his upcoming follow-up to Django Unchained, a western called The Hateful Eight, after learning that the film's screenplay had leaked.

"I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now," the Oscar-winning director told film website Deadline. "I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out today."

The director first spilled the beans about the project on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in November.

While plot details about the now-nixed film have been few and far between, it apparently found its way into the hands of Hollywood agents.

"I gave it to three actors: Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Tim Roth," said Tarantino. "The one I know didn't do this is Tim Roth. One of the others let their agent read it, and that agent has now passed it on to everyone in Hollywood."

The ordeal has left the 50-year-old annoyed and frustrated. "I give it out to six people, and if I can't trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it," he Tarantino. "I'm very, very depressed".

Rabid Tarantino fans may still get the chance to enjoy his prose, if not filmmaking.

"I'm going to publish it, and that's it for now," said Tarantino.
