Defecting Police March in Ukraine

Defecting police were cheered as they marched in Kiev on February 21. In Independence Square a unit from the small town of Radekhiv were given an official welcome from protest leader Yuri Lutsenko. Vasil Krikovsky, head of the police unit, said, “How are we supposed to look on if they are shooting at a peaceful population? Who are we to look on calmly when we gave our vows to protect the Ukrainian people and not some bunch of oligarchs?” Credit: Maximilian Clarke
