A dramatic rescue. A young girl is pulled to safety by South Korean coastguards after the ferry she was travelling in submerged on Wednesday.

Kwon Ji-Yeon was one of the fortunate ones, who found a place in an inflatable dinghy.

The six-year-old was one of only 179 survivors rescued before the ferry capsized and went under the water off the southwestern coast of South Korea.

But her parents and brother, who accompanied her on the trip to Jeju Island are still unaccounted for.

Here heartwrenching messages from Kwon's relatives searching for news of her family on a social media website.

Kwon has no injuries but she is under observation in hospital.

Her family are among nearly 300 people - most of them students - who are still missing
