Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles say that shaking hands is responsible for the spread of so many diseases, that it should be barred in some areas.

The scientists’ primary concerns are doctors, their offices, and healthcare facilities.

They believe that establishing non-handshake zones in medical environments could have the same positive outcomes that have been observed since public smoking became restricted.

Further, by establishing handshake-free zones and putting up signage the chances that the refusal of a handshake would be interpreted as an offense are lessened.

The team also suggests that an alternative yet equivalent gesture be established.

Not all medical professionals are on board with the plan.

Said one, “It all makes me wonder, if no contact is allowed, how am I supposed to do an exam? I mean, that involves actually touch someone to figure out what’s wrong. Perhaps I’m supposed to use a glove attached to the end of an 8 foot long stick. From the hallway.”
