U.S. climber survives 70-foot fall in Nepal

"Oh, I'm pretty well f%*#. I fell through that hole."

He's got broken ribs, and a broken arm - but he's alive.

An American university professor filmed this dramatic video -- immediately after falling into a crevasse while conducting climate research on Mount Himlung in Nepal.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHN ALL, SAYING:

"I have to somehow climb out that way."

John All is shown in a compromising position 70 feet down, with a brave decision to make.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHN ALL, SAYING:

"I can't go that way at all."

He attempts to climb to safety.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHN ALL, SAYING:

"It doesn't look f%*# easy. But that's all I can do. I don't have a right arm."

Four to six hours later, the battered climber says he managed to escape and slowly made his way back to camp.
