Last week it was Egypt, today it's Syria where the established order is staging a presidential election. There's precious little doubt of an overwhelming landslide in favour of Bashar al Assad. His supporters argue that even in a fair fight where the whole of that war-torn country could cast ballots, he would still win. The opposition meanwhile claims that this is simple invention, with Assad directly responsible for bombing his own people from the air. What will today's election change?
