Today on our food news show, we decided we'd cover some actual food news. U.S. Banana giant Chiquita has European Banana powerhouse Fyffes. ("European Banana Powerhouse" is would be a good name for a band. Or a porn film. One or the other). Upshot is that there are now only 3 companies controlling the banana trade worldwide. That could have real implications for people who live in South American Banana Republics. No, not the mid-range clothing stores. The countries whose economies are based on banana exports.
