It has been over thirty seven years since Dr. King gave his I Have a Dream speech.
But even today there are still those who can’t see past the color. I’m not just talking about the pillow cover wearers that sneak around with their racism like a theft in the night. I’m also talking about the ones who look just like me. Yes, I’m talking about the ones with the brown skin, flat noses and full lips. These are the people who call their own people an Uncle Toms just because they have friends with blonde hair, blue eyes sharp noses and pale skin. See some of us of African descent seem to forget that when Dr. King told us about his dream. That he did not only want equal rights for us, but for all. So we need to make sure that before we start talking about those wearing the pillow cases. We ourselves are able to look past the color.
