In my advanced old age (152 years YOUNG) ,
I find that I need 'Reading Glasses ' lately! - - -
This is about a friend that died too young! (81)
(I have a bridge in Brooklyn for sale, too!)

A smattering of snow,
white just doesn't bother me,
I know how it got here,
and I loved every minute of it.
In my impending blindness,
I see better than I ever have before,
I just wish I knew it way back when,
But, of course I didn't ...
Well, that's not really true,
- - - I saw it coming!
Most folks call it spring,
to me, it is a smattering of green,
as long as I can see it,
I love every minute of it.
... can you blame me?
My hand is getting sort of fuzzy,
when I hold it out now,
but, it's not like the song said any more...
it's not a bright, ... bright, ... sunshiney day!
I can see that it's not there,
a little more each day!
The sense of sight was the only one,
I swore I'd never live without,
It is funny how opinions change sometimes!
... or maybe not that funny!
My spectacles are buying time,
and I'm ashamed of me for laughing at the
kids that had to wear the ' Coke bottle ' - - -
kind of glasses, when I was growing up!
I am pretty sure that I'll be told,
that this is all inside my head,
- when, in fact, these very words are
getting hard for me to see,
the smatterings are soon to be,
all that I can see ...
but... unlike many other people...
I HAD life in my eyes once,
and always in my dreams!
