And God spoke.
In the town of night bells chimed loud,
Villagers awoke.
In the square gathered a mighty crowd,
the sky grew dark overhead and people trembled in fear,
the time neared a crucial mark when sudden arose a cheer,
shallow seasons with glowing reasons,
brought forth good into the evil air,
a dashing hero stepped up to set victory,
casting doubt from their minds that grow in fear,
shallow seasons with glowing reasons,
seeking out the golden light.
The hero stood bold in a circle of flame,
none could dim his light,
he strode forth to battle,
the evil slain by his sight,
shallow seasons with glowing reasons,
lift their hearing in happy sound.
The hero fought a bloody battle,
the conflict lasted long,
raising hope for the good,
burning bridges of the wrong.
Again God spoke.
In the town the night bells ceased,
cheers broke down again,
the furrowed land in turmoil creased,
the sky above blazed bright
and people fell to their knees,
time marched into the light,
words of prayer became empty pleas,
God proclaimed from on high
the hero is a fake,
a bolt of lightening struck him down
and cast his body in the lake,
shallow seasons with glowing reasons,
false witness, prophet and treasons.
