Hunter’s wish is to catch a monkey.
Having chosen an ant hill as a trap,
He sprinkles few delicious nuts,
Near and over the home of ants.
He puts some nuts inside the hill’s hole too.
Just then a monkey observes this.
After the hunter’s vanishing into a bush-
The foolish creature slots in its hand inside the hole.
It grabs a handful of nuts.
Oh! What is that?
Why is it not able to take its hand out?
Hole is too small to take its hand with nuts.
What a foolish animal!
Could not it let go the nuts?
The hunter looms!
He catches the monkey.
Then also it is unable to leave the nuts!
Are nuts dearer than life?
I am also spellbound like that foolish monkey,
Death is approaching like that hunter.
If I leave all desires and related thoughts,
I realize that I could be free from bondage.
But, yet, I am powerless to let go the thoughts!
Am I not worse than the stupid monkey,
Though you bestowed me with good reasoning?
Are desires and thoughts dearer than the Soul?
Amma, who will get rid of my stupidity?
