It's become controversial on many levels... the exchange of five Taliban prisoners for the release of U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl.

And now, the Army says it has begun an investigation into the facts and circumstances around his 2009 disappearance in Afghanistan.

Many of his comrades are claiming he deserted his post. They also say the massive search for him may have cost the lives of up to six fellow soldiers in Afghanistan.

Bergdahl was released in May after five years of Taliban captivity.

And he's currently being treated at a Texas medical base.

The military says his health and reintegration remain the top priority.

They say he will not be interviewed about his disappearance until a military team, that specializes in returning POWs, clears him to do so.
