It’s finally here, the iPhone 6 is going on sale around the world and eager customers are queuing up outside of Apple AAPL -0.82% stores to join the day-one gang. Broadcasters have been following events and interviewing those mad enough to queue up for days, and researchers have been surveying the thoughts of Apple devotees.
One Broadcaster,Today Perth News reporting live from Sydney Australia, interviewed the very first person to buy the iPhone 6 from Perth’s flasgship store – Jack Cooksey. Unfortunately for Jack, but fortunately for Today Perth News, during the ‘big reveal’ live on air, Jack got a bit nervous and dropped his new toy directly onto the concrete to a huge cheer from the onlooking crowd. Elsewhere, at Apple’s flagship Australian store in Sydney’s business district, steady handed tech blogger David Rahimi and his girlfriend Jasmine Juan were officially crowned the first people in the world to buy an iPhone 6. Rahimi and Juan flew in from California to queue up having pre-ordered the new phone last week. Over in London, UK, gadget insurance company Protect Your Bubble carried out a survey on 100 people camped outside of the Regent Street store and found some interesting results. 41% of those surveyed said they were waiting for the iPhone 6 Plus, with 30% queuing up for the iPhone 6 and 29% waiting in line for both handsets.

67% of iPhone 6 buyers thought that it was good value, whereas iPhone 6 Plus buyers were less convinced with 54% believing that it was value for money. The Apple Watch didn’t seem to resonate either, with 54% saying that they have no plans to buy the smartwatch at all.
