Israeli troops kill Hamas men blamed for slaying teens

Israeli troops say they've shot dead the two Palestinians they hold responsible for abducting and killing three Israeli teenagers in June.

A military spokesperson said they had been searching for the two suspects in the Hebron area for months after they allegedly shot dead the youths, effectively setting off a seven week war in Gaza.

Officials said they were trying to arrest the men when a firefight erupted.

Israeli forces rounded up hundreds of suspected Hamas members after the three seminary students went missing as they hitchhiked near a Jewish settlement in the West Bank.

Their bodies were found in June.
