Amongst fern and nettles the Campion's waving
Its petals the shade of the clouds of the dawn,
They shine in the hedges and peer from the woodland
And rise to the call of the new day that's born.
The gorse casts a spell as it sprinkles the hillside
Now lifting from darkness with flowers of gold,
I climb to the skies through the grass and the clover
And watch as the morning does slowly unfold.
I see there before me the peak in the distance
Unveiled to my eyes as the clouds start to clear,
The summer air fresh yet it yields only silence
For only the sound of the wind do I hear.
I pause there to gaze at the view of the coastline
As mist is now lifting from over the sea,
I feel now as one with the whole of creation
In a land that's untamed and so wild and so free.
I so want to fly on a journey to heaven
And sail on the wind as I soar through the air,
Far over the downs where the clouds leave their shadows
Upon the sweet meadows and fields lying there.
