As the wine stung my lips.
My mind dizzied with dreams.
At least, I cannot hope to think it was reality.
I swallowed hard the poison.
Ignored the soul searing pain.
I wanted you; or there was no cause to remain.
Kiss my bare shoulder.
Make my blood speed and rush.
Never knew that I just couldn’t be enough.
But you were seeking her.
And I remained as me.
I chose to disregard the facts and fall asleep.
I crave pretty words.
Do not bore me with the truth.
I want to bask in the foolishness of youth
It happened so fast.
Too soon we said our goodbyes.
To this day I still don’t know exactly why.
