A video began circulating on election day, Tuesday, November 4, which shows an electronic voting machine glitch. The uploader, who was voting at Tallwood Elementary in Virginia Beach, experienced difficulty voting for Republican Rep. Scott Rigell. When the voter selected the incumbent’s name, Democratic candidate Suzanne D. Patrick’s name popped up instead.

According to the voter, a poll worker advised him to touch above the box to select Rep. Rigell, which solved the issue.

The Virginia Department of Elections reported in a press release on Tuesday afternoon that it was notified that both Virginia Beach and Newport News were experiencing technical difficulties with their AccuVote TSX Touch Screen voting machines. The release highlighted the issue voters had experienced of having a different selection appear after making their choice.

Rigell also sent an email to supporters regarding the voting glitch, saying the irregularity in electronic poll machines was “troubling,” according to reports. Credit: YouTube/Va Beach23451
