London’s new Tower Bridge attraction, a million-dollar glass walkway suspended 140 feet above the River Thames, was shattered after a beer bottle fell onto it.

London’s new one and a half million dollar glass walkway suspended about 140 feet above the River Thames between the Tower Bridge pillars was shattered after a beer bottle fell onto it.

The impact cracked the glass panel, and was reportedly made worse by a pair of stiletto heels.

Thankfully, only the removable top layer of the 12 hundred pound pane was damaged.

It was swiftly replaced, but according to those in charge of the attraction it was never a cause for concern from a safety standpoint.

Of the several stacked glass layers that comprise each panel, the uppermost one is intended to be, as officials call it, ‘sacrificial.’

On the evening the damage occurred, the bridge remained open.

A protective cover was placed over the broken area to prevent glass shards from emerging.

Said the business manager for the Tower Bridge, "We are gutted it's happened in the first couple of weeks when it's been open to the public but it's completely safe. We should have said no glass on the glass section of the floor. It was a bit shortsighted of us."
