As news that the white police officer would not be charged in the fatal August shooting of an unarmed black teenager spread across the nation, tensions grew Monday (November 24) night outside the Ferguson, Missouri police station, where hundreds of protesters had gathered.

The crowd grew increasingly boisterous as the minutes ticked down to the highly anticipated news conference that revealed the grand jury decision.

The grand jury found there was no probable cause to charge Ferguson, Missouri, police officer Darren Wilson, who is white, with any crime for the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown, an incident that highlighted longstanding racial tensions in the predominantly black city, which has a white-dominated power structure.
