Kurdish officials are accusing Turkey of allowing ISIL fighters to attack the Syrian border town of Kobani from Turkey.

A video released by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights purports to show a jihadist sniper on the Turkish side of the border.

In a separate incident, there was an assault at the border crossing which began when a suicide bomber driving an armoured vehicle detonated his explosives allegedly having driven from Turkey.

Turkish authorities have denied the accusations.

“The allegations, such as suggesting either IS militants or their vehicles are using Turkey’s territory, are totally unfounded. There is absolutely no such thing. Our border is being protected 24 hours by our military. It is impossible for them to cross over into our border,” said Izzettin Kucuk, the Governor of Sanliurfa.

Hundreds of people gathered in Diyarbakir in the Kurdish region in southeast Turkey on Sunday to condemn the attack on Kobani and to show support for Kurdish fighters there.
