A married couple is being charged with ‘grand theft, forgery and unlawful filing of a deed’ of an upscale home in Clay County, Florida. According to police, Justin and Jenna Dean took over the property and changed the locks.

Reportedly, the young couple filed a fraudulent quitclaim deed on the foreclosed residence that was valued at over one million dollars.

The two then went on with their lives and continued staying inside the house. Via Facebook, Jenna Dean shared photos of the property and claimed the home belonged to her and Justin.

The scheme started in September and over the course of three months, the couple, aged 23 and 24, invited friends over parties. The fraudulent living arrangement didn’t come to light until a couple from Ohio made a legal offer on the home and the bank ran a title search.

Documents filed by the Deans had some noticeable inconsistencies and police were soon notified. The couple, who ran a horse shoeing and grooming company, were arrested on December 8th and have been released on bond.

Clay County Detective Steve Dugger remarked “I’m surprised at the stuff that we have to investigate every day. It amazes me that someone who makes horseshoes for a living is purchasing a $1 million home. It’s incredible.”
