SUV Dangles Over Massive Sinkhole In Colorado

A huge sinkhole recently opened up in Lafayette, Colorado and one man along with his SUV ended up dangling on the edge of it.

A huge sinkhole recently opened up in Lafayette, Colorado and one man along with his SUV ended up dangling on the edge of it.

At approximately 5 in the morning on Monday, Aurelio Zambrano was heading to work when he drove over a portion of the newly formed sinkhole.

He wasn’t able to see the opening beforehand due to the still-dark conditions and he clipped the edge of it just right. The driver’s side of the SUV was left dangling over the open part of the sinkhole while the passenger side was hanging onto the semi-stable ground.

Zambrano opened his door to assess the situation and that’s when he saw how far down the gaping hole went. He later told 7NEWS “I was scared because I was thinking, I'm going inside the hole with my truck. The problem is the bottom -- it was still open and then I heard water in the bottom.”
