On Friday, the U.S. Air Force released a detailed report pertaining to a crash involving two F-16Cs that occurred last October.

According to the accident investigation documentation, one of the pilots was a student with only a little over 100 hours of F-16 flying experience and that individual managed to land the craft at the Tulsa Air National Guard Base even though about five feet of the wing tip on the right side was severed.

The other pilot, more experienced with well over 2,000 hours of flight time, ejected from the aircraft after the collision and suffered minor injuries as a result.

The two aircrafts came into contact during a training mission over Kansas. The pilots were informed they needed to work alongside each other to ward off a third pilot that was acting as an enemy.
