Freak accident: Service elevator traps Russian waitress head, leaving her with spinal injuries

A waitress at cafe in the Russian city of Saratov was badly injured after getting her head stuck in a service elevator.

Security video shows the woman moving trays from the elevator to a nearby cart. And things went downhill fast from there. Moments later she pushed a button and, all of a sudden, the lift descended.

It appears the woman tried to pull the last tray from teh lift as it went down. Bad move — she misjudged and the the thing came down on her, trapping her head.

According to Russian media, her colleagues ran to the scene after hearing cries for help. They were able to raise the elevator and free the victim before she was killed.

Alive but shaken, she was taken to hospital with head and spinal injuries.

Investigators are now questioning those responsible for the safety at the workplace. The video seems to show it was pretty much her own fault.
