Colombia: 6 Indigenous Residents Killed in Cauca

2015-04-17 3 Dailymotion

Six indigenous residents of the Colombian state of Cauca were found murdered and the whereabouts of two others are unknown. According to a report from the Association of Indigenous Authorities of Northern Cauca, the circumstances surrounding the killings is still unknown, but on Wednesday unidentified armed men forced the residents from their homes and kidnapped them in vans; they were later found dead. The clash earlier this week in Cauca between the Colombian army and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia has confined indigenous communities to their immediate areas. Indigenous organizations warn of an escalation of the armed conflict following President Juan Manuel Santos' declaration that airstrikes would be renewed against FARC positions. Natalia Margarita reports from Bogota.
