During the shooting in Garland, Texas outside of a 'Draw the Prophet Muhammad' art contest involving two radical Islamic gunmen, Nadir Soofi was killed along with Elton Simpson when they arrived at the Curtis Culwell Center and opened fire on police with assault rifles.
Soofi's grandmother spoke to the press about her grandson saying he was a good person, and he like to help other people including his 8-year-old son and younger brother.
She went on to say she was shocked and in disbelief that her grandson was capable of carrying out a violent act, and that he never tried to preach to others about Islam.
