Honduras: Authorities Have Not Allowed Student Elections in 11 Years

2015-05-31 0 Dailymotion

University students in Honduras are demanding to be heard by the authorities. They say that conditions do not exist for imparting a quality education and that the government is spending too much on a military buildup and too little on education. Students say that despite some cosmetic changes, the government is responding to market demands and does not spend money on classrooms or labs. For the last 11 years, student elections have been suspended and representatives are appointed by the authorities. Students have announced more actions and next week they will be joined by middle-school students who also feel that their right to a good education is being threatened.
