Colombia: Gov't Blames FARC for Attack on Electricity Tower

2015-06-01 1 Dailymotion

The Colombian government has blamed the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) for the attack on an electricity tower Sunday that left the port city of Buena Aventura and its 400,000 residents without power. The 37th round of peace talks is currently underway in Havana, Cuba, and the negotiations have been extended from their original May 31 deadline until Thursday. The peace process has been under pressure due to intensified military airstrikes against the rebels and the resulting decision by the FARC to suspend its unilateral ceasefire. Given the suffering inflicted by the escalating military attacks on the rural population, social organizations are calling on the government to accept a bilateral ceasefire as the only way to move the peace process forward.
