"The Americans" and "Silicon Valley" took home the top prizes of the night at the Critics' Choice TV Awards.

The awards ceremony at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday night (31 MAY 2015) was televised on A&E Networks.

It drew stars ranging from "Better Call Saul's" Bob Odenkirk -- who won for best actor in a drama series -- to Taraji P. Henson, who won for best actress for "Empire."

Other big winners: HBO's biopic "Bessie," starring Queen Latifah, scored best made for TV movie. Jeffrey Tambor and an absent Amy Schumer scored acting wins for their comedy series work.

Show highlights included a messy T.J. Miller still swallowing down food as he began his acceptance speech for his work on "Silicon Valley." And Allison Janney planted a long kiss on James Corden after she won for her work on "Mom."
