ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE PROGRESSION SYSTEM (Escapist News Now)

Bethesda released a new video showcasing gameplay and the progression system for their upcoming MMO The Elder Scrolls Online.

Like most Elder Scrolls Games it is an open-ended progression system where you gain experience points through various tasks around the world. The experience allows you to level up but you can also participate in special quests to gain experience or you can find sky shards throughout the world.

Attribute points return in either health, magicka, or stamina which help define what kind of character you want to be. There will also be Skill Points for abilities or spells which are part of a skill line. You can Morph these skills to make them more powerful.

Once you've advanced far enough down a skill line, you will gain access to Ultimate abilities which don't consume magicka or stamina. One example is the Overload ability for sorcerers. Of course there are also Passive abilities that will increase the power or certain spells and skills. As with previous Elder Scrolls games the race you choose will give you specific passive skills in addition to the skills you get from your class selection.

You can start new skill lines by exploring the world and finding quests like joining the Mages Guild or even becoming a Werewolf or Vampire.

Basically if you played previous Elder Scrolls games, or even just Skyrim, this progression system will be very familiar to you.
