The Borivali police have arrested Sai Ballal, a television actor, on charges of molestation after he allegedly sent pornographic clips to a 58-year-old female television actor.
The woman approached the police on Wednesday following which Ballal was taken into custody. In her complaint, the woman said Ballal had started harassing her in April. The police said Ballal and the woman used to act in the same television show.
Ballal, who portrays the role of ‘Bhaiyyaji’ in the famous television show Udaan, allegedly started harassing the actress around April. He contacted her on WhatsApp and started sending her obscene videos including a few pornographic clips. The woman told the police that she had warned him but he did not stop.
When the woman did not respond to his obscene videos, Ballal allegedly asked her if she liked them and also told her to visit his house. The police said Ballal then forced her to get into a physical relationship with him.
The victim has also named two other people from the production department in her complaint. The other two men, identified as Abhishek Agarwal and Bharat Choksi, are yet to be arrested, the police said. The police said they suspect the two men were assisting Ballal in his acts, the police said.
When the woman could not handle the situation by herself, she approached the Cine and TV Artistes Association but was told it was a criminal case and that she should go to the police.
“We have received t he actress’s complaint on Wednesday following which a case has been registered against the accused.
“Ballal was at Filmcity when he was taken into custody and placed under arrest,” said Gunaji Sawant, senior inspector at Borivli police station.
The police have booked Ballal and two others under sections 354 (A) (D) and 109 of the Indian Penal Code. The police have also pressed charges under the Information Technology Act against the trio.
