Alligator hunter catches gators around Houston after catastrophic floods - TomoNews

HOUSTON — As residents slowly get back to their normal lives following massive flooding across the area, displaced wildlife around Houston, including alligators, have been popping up in the most unusual places.

“Gator Chris” Stephens is a licensed and insured Alligator Nuisance Control Hunter for Texas Parks and Wildlife.

His pickup truck is now loaded with alligators caught all around Houston and its surrounding counties.

Stephens and his hunting partner, Christy Kroboth, have been extremely busy since the flood waters have started to recede.

Since Monday, the pair have caught four alligators in different areas, even in a parking garage off the Katy Freeway.

That gator was approximately six feet in length and was found next to a wall by an employee of a local business.

Another gator was spotted by a Cinco Ranch homeowner who caught sight of children throwing rocks at it.

Stephens also captured another six-foot gator hiding in a retention pond in Fort Bend County, after a 9-year-old girl spotted the reptile walking across the street.

“They’re not going to eat you, they don’t see us as a food source unless you feed them, Stephens said.

Stephens said the nuisance reptiles that he caught will be taken to an alligator farm in El Campo, Texas.

Although wild gators pose a potential threat, there have been no gator-related injuries ed following the floods.
