The parole hearing for Oscar Pistorius, the jailed Parlaympian gold medalist, was postponed to Oct. 15 to give the family of Reeva Steenkamp, the girlfriend he killed, time to submit evidence.
Pistorius was jailed in October last year for manslaughter after killing Steenkamp in his home on Valentine's Day two years ago.
The athlete, who said he thought she was an intruder, could serve the rest of his five-year sentence under house arrest.
Pistorius and his attorney attended a hearing at the Kgosi Mampuru prison in Pretoria, the capital, on Friday, the Department of Correctional Services said in an e-mailed statement.
The department earlier said the board would meet again on Oct. 21.
"It is expected that the Steenkamp family will make a submission on the possible placement of Oscar Pistorius under community corrections, early next week," it said.
