Il regista Guy Ritchie, oltre a richiamare sul set Rachel McAdams nel ruolo di Irene Adler, ha ingaggiato nuovi attori: l'attrice svedese Noomi Rapace, resa celebre dal film Uomini che odiano le donne, sarà una delel nuove protagoniste femminili mentre Stephen Fry sarà il fratello maggiore di Sherlock e Jared Harris interpreterà il professor Moriarty. Il film uscirà al cinema il 16 di dicembre.
