Banned cough syrup bottles seized in Agartala

Agartala, Feb 03 (ANI): The Border Security Force (BSF) personnel seized 23,700 bottles of contraband cough syrup from a Bangladesh-bound lorry in northeastern city of Agartala. Acting on a tip from the intelligence wing, the security forces carried out a joint operation with local police and custom officials in the forest area of Jirania town and seized a lorry. BSF personnel seized 4,500 bottles of Phensdly cough syrup and 19,200 bottles of Escuf cough syrup from Nischintapur border area. Lorry driver Rajpal Singh and the co-driver were detained and they revealed the bottles were loaded from Uttar Pradesh. The seized contraband worth Rs 3.5 lakh was handed over to the anti-narcotic department.
