Scientists have reconstructed an early human habitat dating back to 1.8 million years ago.
Working at a site in the Olduvai Gorge in Tanzania discovered by world-renowned paleoanthropologist Mary Leakey in 1959, an international team of researchers determined that our ancient ancestors had access to food, water and shelter amidst an area comprised of woodland, wetlands and grasslands. The early humans there also had access to multiple, sharp-edged stone tools.
