Kashmir, Apr 06 (ANI): Local artists in Jammu and Kashmir say revival of Bollywood films in the state is providing platform to the artists. Local artists Mir Sarwar, Qazi Faiz and Azaad Shah talked about their roles in Bollywood movies and how it paved a path for the budding artists in the state. Sarwar has played a few roles in popular Bollywood movies, including Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Chinaar Dastaan-e-Ishq, which were based on the backdrop of Kashmir and its plight. Renowned film makers, including late Yash Chopra, Rahul Bhardwaj, Kabir Khan and Siraj Minhaj have visited the state for film shots for its scenic beauty. Movies like Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Haider, Fitoor, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Phantom, Chinaar Dastaan-e-Ishq among many more have received huge publicity with the help of natural beauty of the Kashmir Valley. Kashmir was once dubbed the Switzerland of the East. It was a 'Mecca' for climbers, skiers, honeymooners and filmmakers drawn to the state's soaring peaks, fruit orchards and timber houseboats bobbing on Dal Lake. But all cultural
activities took a massive hit when the insurgency erupted in the state in the late eighties.
