BURIEN, WASHINGTON — A 30-year-old man caught speeding on the highway on May 4 attempted to escape police, but quickly found himself in a heap of monkey trouble for his inability to leave his partner behind.

Police in Burien, Washington clocked the man at 112 MPH on SR 509. In trying to make a break for it, the man quickly lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a large rock in a residential yard. He then fled the scene, but quickly realized his accomplice was still in the car – his pet monkey, a marmoset. After throwing the monkey on his back and running away again, the cops were quickly able to track the pair down.

In a Facebook post following their arrest, the police revealed the monkey was released into the custody of the man's mother, once they'd determined the little guy "was not the driver" of the vehicle, "and was only engaged in monkey business." The police were forced to call the man's mother because it refused to be manhandled by the officers.
